Years ago Hardy read Stephen Covey's The 7 Habits for Highly Effective People, and he was inspired by Covey's basic principles for living successfully and fully. From Covey's "To Live, To Love, To Leave A Legacy" Hardy adopted his own mission: To Live, To Grow, To Love and To Serve.. For him: TO LIVE means living his life completely, showing up fully, not half-heartedly, not timidly. It means good self-care, nurturing his body, mind and soul so that he can give of himself more when he serves, when he is in relationship, when he engages with the World. TO GROW means being eager to learn at every opportunity, seeing change as a gift rather than a burden, expanding his mind constantly, and being very open to helpful suggestions and constructive criticism from others. TO LOVE means loving himself as much as he loves others; with zest and energy enjoying and being grateful for all people and events that come into his life. TO SERVE means giving of self and of one's time and treasures with joy and gladness of heart. It does not mean over-extending oneself, nor does it mean saying "YES" when we mean "NO". For the generation currently ages 50 to 100 Hardy's mission is to teach and help them discover their unique gifts; to find ways for living their life to the fullest, with joy, sparkle, and on purpose. by Hardy Hasenfuss at July 31, 2004 |
